The city of Pinole is located in the western portion of Contra Costa County on the shores of the San Pablo Bay. The current population is 19,573. The rolling hills and temperate climate make it an ideal place to live. Pinole's diversity also contibutes to its appeal. The Pinole Library offers many on-going programs for adults, teens and children. Pinole is currently the only branch to contain a premier Filipino Collection in both English and Tagalog. The collection comprises material on the culture, history, and folklore of the Philipines.
