PSC’s Computer Lab Offers Something for Everyone
- A beginning student practices short vowel sounds in Ultimate Phonics.
- A learning-disabled student practices with words beginning with b-d-p in S.O.S. (Strategies for Older Students).
- An ESL student practices their reading and spelling skills by linking written language to real-life photos in Rosetta Stone.
- A student discovers new words, prefixes, suffixes, homonyms and more in Vocabulary Development.
A theme seems to run through this: practice, practice, and practice. The PSC lab is a wonderful place for students to practice new skills by improving their ability to read. We use computers primarily to assist students with developing their literacy skills. We offer software for reading, spelling, math, vocabulary, and typing. We also offer Internet access and word processing.
PSC has its own private computer lab located in the Pleasant Hill Library. This lab is set up with 5 computers for the exclusive use of our students and tutors. Our Antioch office has its own lab and three computers.
Why Use the lab?
- Literacy software is fun and interactive to use, and can provide additional practice with skills our students have learned in their lessons.
- The lab is a great place for your students to continue their work while you're on vacation.
- Many PSC students have a computer at home, but do not know how to use it.
- Some students want to learn how to explore the Internet.
- Students can learn to use Microsoft Word and write their own stories, or maintain a Dialog Journal.
