1: What are the branch locations and hours?

2: Which branches are open in the evening?
Most branches have at least one day they are open in the evening. Please see the library locations page for details.

3: Which branches are open on Sunday?
Clayton, Concord, Danville, Hercules, Orinda and San Ramon. Please see the library locations page for details.

4: Which libraries have computer labs?
The Pleasant Hill and Hercules community libraries have computer labs that are open during specific operating hours. The computer lab at Dougherty Station is open during the Library’s normal operating hours.

5: Do the branches have programs for children?
Yes. Please go to the Library Locations and Hours page and click on the library name in which you are interested.

6: Do you have "reading" or ESL (English as a Second Language) classes?
The library does have an adult literacy program, Project Second Chance (PSC) . Please see the Project Second Chance page for details about the program and contact information.

7: Can I buy a book from the Library?
The Library cannot sell any items from the collection to individuals. Any book that is no longer needed in the collection is turned over to the branch's friends group for their book sales. At the end of the year, there is a public giveaway of any books that have been removed from the collection and are not wanted by the Friends or other community groups. It is advertised on the library Web site.

8: When is the next book sale?
Each Friends of the Library group conducts its book sales independently. For information on a particular branch, please go to the Friends of the Library page and click on the group in which you are interested. You will find book sale, membership and donation information there. A calendar of upcoming book sales can be viewed on the Book Sales page, and is also available as an RSS feed.

9: Does the Library accept used books and other donations?
The Contra Costa County Library and its associated Friends of the Library organizations welcome donations. Please go to the Friends of the Library page and find a description of what your local Friends group will accept in regards to donations. If you have further questions regarding donating materials, please contact your local community library.

10: How much do you charge for copies?
Photocopies are $.15 per page.

11: Do you have a color copier?
None of the Contra Costa County libraries have a color copier.

12: Do you carry the Federal tax forms?
The Library does not distribute Federal tax forms. IRS tax forms may be downloaded from the Internal Revenue Service web site. The Pleasant Hill Library also receives a depository copy of federal reproducible tax forms, and retains forms and publications of previous years. Library copiers operate at $.15 per page.

13: Can I get a list of the items that I checked out in the past?
To protect privacy, the Library does not retain records of items that have previously been checked out and returned, with the exception of items that have outstanding fines or have never been returned.
